Zoot Sims (all'anagrafe John Haley Sims) (Inglewood, 29 ottobre 1925 – New York, 23 marzo 1985) è stato un sassofonista statunitense di musica jazz.

Biografia

Iniziò la sua carriera nel 1941, a sedici anni, con la formazione di Kenny Baker, entrando poi nel 1944 nelle orchestre di Benny Goodman e Sidney Catlett. L'anno successivo fu nella sezione sax di Gene Roland a fianco di Herbie Stewart e dell'allora diciottenne Stan Getz. Durante la sua lunga carriera ha collaborato con i più grandi musicisti jazz, esibendosi inoltre come leader affiancato da Bucky Pizzarelli (chitarra), Milton Hinton (basso) e Buddy Rich (batteria).
