Courtney Fortune is an American singer/songwriter from Seattle, Washington. Her musical style is categorized as crossover jazz and pop, drawing upon a long list of vintage and modern influences. Her voice is often compared to singers like Peggy Lee, Eva Cassidy and Norah Jones.[1]

Career

A Seattle native, Courtney Fortune began cultivating her crossover style at an early age while performing at cabaret clubs and rock venues around town. She performed across Japan and the UK,[2] before moving to Los Angeles, where she attended and graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Industry.

In 2009 Courtney met seven-time Grammy nominated producer/arranger Chris Walden. Together they released her debut jazz album Speak Love, driven by original work and those co-written with the celebrated composer. She also performed as the featured vocalist of the Grammy nominated Chris Walden Big Band.[3] Courtney received the Brian Wilson Musical Achievement Award from the University of Southern California, as well as Glamour Magazines Top Ten College Women of the Year honor in 2009.[4] In November 2013 she performed at TEDx in Manhattan Beach. And in January she will become the featured artist at the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong, for a three month residency engagement.[5]

Courtney Fortune has been recognized by MTV, The John Lennon Foundation, GENLUX Magazine, and has performed alongside Garrison Keillor of A Prairie Home Companion. She is currently at work on her new EP of original music, set for release this year.[6]
