Molti altri furono fallimenti commerciali.

Hollywood gli tributò invece un consistente successo, conferendogli per quattro volte il premio per la migliore canzone: On the Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe (1946), In the Cool Cool Cool of the Evening (1951), Moon River (1961) e Days of Wine and Roses (1962).
