Matt Malley (born Matthew Mark Malley, July 4, 1963, Oakland, California) is an American songwriter, record producer, recording engineer and musician. He is best known for being an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated songwriter and founding member / long time bass guitar player for the rock band Counting Crows.[1]

In December 2004, following the band's Hard Candy tour, Malley left the group.

He has been practising Sahaja Yoga Meditation since 1987. On May 5, 2009, Malley's first solo record, The Goddess Within, was released in North America on Voiceprint Records and worldwide soon after.

He is presently learning North Indian, or Hindustani classical music on the Indian slide guitar, or Mohan Veena, and is a student and friend of Grammy Award winner, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

In 2009, Malley recorded with The Grass Roots co-founder, Joel Larson, and The Merry-Go-Round co-founder and solo artist, Emitt Rhodes.

In April 2010, Sleepless Nights, Malley's collaboration album with Bhatt was released worldwide.
